| Tanksmart is pleased to introduce a new onsite
construction process for fiberglass (or poly) lined, concrete tanks
ideal for potable water, wastewater, fire-suppression water, storm
water drainage/retention or other utilities applications.
The patent pending Tanksmart product is an
engineered tank system that utilizes the most commonly used components
for liquid storage to construct a tank product of uncompromising
quality. The long-lasting, non-corrosive properties of fiberglass or
poly and the superior structural and compressive strength of steel
reinforced, spray applied concrete are brought together to provide a
storage tank that is the genuinely the best of both.
This unique patent pending process makes this tank
a logical, economical and environmentally smart choice for a wide
variety of liquid storage/handling systems, and can be comfortably
constructed in sizes from 5000 gallons and up.
Here are some of the benefits of the Tanksmart
design :
• Engineered, wet stamped drawings available
• Expanded burial location options (under
buildings, roadways, high ground water locations, etc.)
• No burial depth restrictions
• No need for costly pea gravel backfill
material
• Use soil from the original excavation for
backfill
• No tie-downs or deadman anchors needed
• No risk of tank floatation in high water
tables
• Non-corrosive, rigid Fiberglass or Poly
interior
• Higher compressive strength exterior than
traditional pre-cast or cast-in-place tanks
• Structurally ideal shape
• Spray applied concrete is known to be less
permeable than poured concrete providing better protection for
reinforcing members and allowing less infiltration that pre-cast tanks.
• Typically has a wall thickness of 1-1/2”
to 2-1/2” thicker than pre-cast concrete tanks.
• Cures in optimum conditions for achieving
maximum design strength (in underground applications)
• Expedient onsite construction uses
pre-constructed fiberglass or poly forming that remains in place to
function as the tank liner
• Cost competitive completed installation
The Tanksmart tank is designed to address a number
of short-comings that are common with standard concrete, fiberglass and
poly tanks. For instance, below ground tank installations using
fiberglass or poly tanks are often limited in their application and
capabilities due to the burial location and depth restrictions of
traditional products….not only can our tanks be structurally designed
to withstand any amount of vehicular loading or for any required burial
depth, but spray applied concrete (shotcrete) regularly cures up to 50%
stronger than poured concrete and that provides the non-corrosive tank
liner with superior structural support for a long, failure-free service
life.
In addition, the spray applied concrete process is
less permeable to moisture penetration and as a result it provides
superior protection to the reinforcing members than poured concrete
does. No costly (and sometimes unavailable) pea gravel is needed, which
also means that additional material does not have to be hauled onto or
off the site, no additional anchoring system is required for wet holes,
and because the tank is constructed on site, the mix design of the
concrete can be specific to the site soil conditions. The process also
deals effectively with problems like nozzle failure due to stress on
the tank wall, or tank deflection leading to wall failure and other
general burial limitations common to fiberglass and poly tanks. In this
process, the highest standard of quality is assured every time because
each tank is constructed to an engineered design.
The above mentioned tank design minimizes the
potential liabilities relative to underground storage. Simply put,
better tanks mean greater assurance of long-term quality drinking water
and more secure containment of potentially harmful wastewater.
Tanksmart is a solution oriented, onsite tank
construction company, and we are proud to finally introduce a
non-corrosive lined concrete tank without the traditional limitations.
