| The Tanksmart tank was originally designed to
address the limitations of conventional underground fibreglass, poly
and concrete tanks typically utilized for storage or handling of water
and wastewater. That said, the process is equally usable for above
ground tanks where protection from fire, harmful UV rays, projectile or
vehicle impact is desired. The process is also well suited for
open-ended construction making it ideal for sub-surface drainage,
tunnels and large culverts.
Increasing concerns with water and wastewater
management have engineers and property owners looking for safe,
reliable, environmentally responsible, and sustainable systems for
handling and storing water of all kinds.
Our engineered tank products are a suitable
solution for, but not limited to, the following applications:
- Potable water
- Commercial/industrial wastewater systems
- Residential cisterns
- Rain water collection
- Cooling systems
- Fire-suppression water storage for schools,
churches, housing developments, rural properties, etc.
- Car washes
- Irrigation systems
- Resorts
- Recreation sites
- RV parks
- Campgrounds
- Rural developments
- Rest areas
- Municipalities
- Villages
- Rural fire halls
- Lift station alternative
- Landfill sites
- Livestock watering
- Locations without main drainage
- Where seasonal use prevents successful
functioning of an onsite treatment system
- Where discharge of treated effluent is not
permitted due to unsuitable ground conditions
- An alternate ballast or backfill solution for
regular single (or double) wall fiberglass tanks.
- Tanksmart offers a solution using a modular
fiberglass liner making it suitable for construction where access is
limited.
What about CSA-B66 (or
similar approvals) for wastewater tanks?
It is important to understand the following:
- Each Tanksmart tank is constructed to an
engineered specification in order to ensure proper assembly and
construction procedures are followed.
- CSA approvals exist to give buyers and specifiers a sense of quality
assurance in the absence of an engineers approval.
Tanksmart tanks are assembled and constructed on
site, and as such, they currently cannot be given CSA-B66 approval
which is the standard that applies only to prefabricated tanks and
is commonly requested by local inspection authorities. So
even though Tanksmart tanks meet or exceed the CSA specifications for
fiberglass, poly and concrete tanks, CSA is not in a position to give
approval because they simply don't have a suitable standard.
In most locales, the local authorities have
provisions for variance applications.
